Don't Blame Media for Troubled Youths

Docs & Non-Fiction (Cultural)
[ 2:37 - from YouTube ]

You know how the media gets blamed for a lot of things? Making us fat, making us stupid, making us violent, and so on? Not so fast. USC professor Karen Sternheimer, author of the new book “Connecting Social Problems in Popular Culture,” says the sort of virtual violence in games like Grand Theft Auto, for instance, doesn’t really translate to real world crime, as most pundits have said for years. Nor are movies like “Juno” and TV shows like “Gossip Girl” to blame for the rise in unwed mothers. Here's her take.
