This video is part of our Thanksgiving: Hop Aboard the Gravy Train Spotlight

This William Burroughs 'prayer' was originally offered on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 28,1986, and first appeared in the chapbook "Tornado Alley." Five years later, Gus Van Sant made a short film of this prayer with Burroughs reading the text. With lines such as: "Thanks for the wild turkey and the Passenger Pigeons, destined to be s--t out through wholesome American guts," Burroughs uses his resonant voice to pay homage to a holiday he thinks we should rename, Thankstaking.
