"Heroes" Creator Tim Kring on Transmedia Storytelling
Docs & Non-Fiction (Art & Entertainment), Other Gems (Behind the Scenes)
[ 9:17 - from YouTube ]
Transmedia storytelling is a hot topic right now, and "Heroes" creator, Tim Kring, weighs in with his thoughts on how he uses all forms of media - TV, web, gaming devices, books and graphic novels - to dig deeper into the storyline and bring richer interactions to the characters. Interviewed by Scott Kirsner, editor of CinemaTech, it's interesting to hear how he refers to the story as a 'cannon' of possibilities and ways to 'shoot' different plotlines through multiple formats that add to the tapestry of the show, and bring the mythology behind it to life. He also touches on user-generated content and fan fiction. And it turns out he's a total techie. Power to the geeks!
