  Well, it's October and who knew that Bavarians had such a sense of national pride and um...child-like sense of humor? There will be two audiences for this music video with english lyrics that vaunts Bavarian traditions like dancing the Schuhplattler, yodelling, drinking beer, wearing lederhosn - those who laugh with it and those who laugh at it.  I am in the second camp because at moments (especially in the chorus) it seems ripped from a Monty Python sketch crossed from a scene from Bruno. And although the girls look pretty, I am very doubtful the singer is straight.  view

Through the use of social media, Whitacre auditioned these individuals, and then created a virtual choral orchestra which you see in this video.   With a look that's eerily reminiscent of Bush's contemptuous gaze, this Green Beret sings a military song that contains the entire ethos of his culture in its lyrics. Easy to dismiss with ironic postmodern detachment, the truth is that this soldier (unlike Bush) has a reason to feel superior to you. He's willing to die and can kick your ass all day long. That being said, the last stanza of the song reminds me of Christopher Walken in "Pulp Fiction".  view
