With Julia and Julie a hit movie, and Meryl Streep gaining praise for channeling Julia Child, it's fun to go back and see what all the fuss is about. Here's a clip of Julia pounding away at a cut of meat and then dumping what seems like far too much liquor into the sauce (at the 7:00 mark). Fun to watch, and not a bad recipe, to boot.

Evangeline Morphos is a professor of film and theater at Columbia University. She developed the university's first courses in television as dramatic literature. Her scholarly work includes articles on American and British theater, narrative uses of the Internet and film. Evangeline holds a B.A. from Wellesley College and an A.M. and Ph.D. in English from Harvard University.
