Here’s an idea whose time has come: VIMBY (Video in My Back Yard) sets out to counteract TV’s NIMBY problem, aiming its cameras on all things edgy, street and ‘indie’ in the cities – and elevating them to “Hills” style online series. “Backyard Sessions,” one of their signature series, features unplugged, sunlit musicians and rappers performing in the back of someone’s house, complete with "fly ass pool” and fire ants. It plays to the strengths of the internet, intimate and homegrown, while finding all that stuff in the "long tail" that usually ends up driving the head.
