John Cage "4'33"
Comedy (Spoof), Music (Live)
[ 9:23 - from YouTube ]
You heard about it, but never heard it because no has and no one ever will. Here's the "4'33" composition by the legendary John Cage. This monumental work demands the most out of an audience: because the orchestra never makes a single sound. Ludicrous? Hilarious? Intense? In this one piece Cage manages to both give the middle finger to elitism, redefine the nature of a musical performance, create a meta self-consciousness in the audience and much more. The first moments are filled with nervous laughter, but after some time, the silence becomes overpowering. And you have to love the coughing and clapping - and the narrator. Monty Python becomes great art!
