Radar Eighteen: Google Maps Road Trip
Comedy (Broad, Mockumentary), Docs & Non-Fiction (Art & Entertainment, Reality, Travel)
[ 4:52 - from Babelgum ]
Marc Horowitz is a man on a mission - to have fun, to make people feel good, and to embed himself in culture in new and often times, strange ways. When fan Peter Baldes talked to him about doing a cross-country trip together, both men agreed to do it... virtually. The result was a 9-day simulated excursion from LA to Virginia using Google Maps. The commitment to keep the trip based in reality as much as possible is the most amusing thing about this entire story. I have to hand it to anyone who can take existing technology and use it in new, exciting, and somewhat useful ways.
