Ryan
Animation (Experimental), Docs & Non-Fiction (Profiles)
[ 13:54 - from NFB ]
This film won an Oscar for its phenomenal animation-meets-documentary style. It profiles animator Ryan Larkin, an animation rock star of the 70's (himself nominated for an Oscar) who underwent a downward spiral and ended up a panhandler (I can vouch from personal experience having seen him on the streets of Montreal). This is a stylistically intricate look at a very unique and in many ways unfortunate life. Sadly, Ryan passed away roughly two years ago (you can check out his films at www.nfb.ca)
