eGuiders Officially Named the YouTube Curator of the Month
by Brian Rothe
eGuiders has been named the YouTube Curator of the Month for December 2009. While those of you who know our site are familiar with our practices, you may not realize that we've also created YouTube playlists. These playlists are an extension of our site, and are just another place for you to find great content recommended by our team of eGuiders. Please check out the video from eGuiders Co-Founder and CEO Marc Ostrick to learn more about the methodology behind our playlists. We encourage all of our fans to sign up for the eGuiders YouTube channel. Thanks, as always, for your continued support!
What Is eGuiders?
Our website, eGuiders.com, uses a team of experts and media mavens who hand-pick and review their favorite made-for-web videos.
The Purpose Of Our Playlists
We hope to provide the YouTube community a discovery experience that reflects the collective sensibilities of our team of curators (aka eGuiders). By categorizing the playlists into seven main genres, we provide an opportunity for users to find hidden gems and classic clips they may never have known about otherwise. eGuiders playlists serve as a quick destination where users can come to find videos recommended by reputable media experts and influencers, cultivating trust among subscribers and a deeper experience for Internet video enthusiasts.
Our Approach
Curation and search are fundamental keys to discovery and are not mutually exclusive. Our playlists allow the YouTube community to quickly explore specific genres and videos that eGuiders find interesting, funny and/or entertaining.
Curation is, and will always be, subjective. Our approach is to allow our team to dig and search for content that they find exciting and valuable. Most of our eGuiders have a specific genre that they specialize in or have a proclivity towards, and we support their passion for online video by giving them a platform to share their sensibilities. However, at the end of the day, eGuiders is not about a single voice - it is about the collection of many dynamic voices that contribute to overall goal of validating the Internet as a credible medium for storytellers.
Original Content
In addition to the playlists, the eGuiders channel also features original content called “The Spark Series,” which we’ve created to elevate the level of conversation in and about the social media community. Each installment focuses on a different aspect of social media; our latest episodes cover Blog World Expo, the Twitter revolution, and the issue of net neutrality. The series is being shot with HD pocket video tools like the Zi8 and Flip Ultra HD.
Being The Curator Of The Month
We will be adding new videos each day so please make sure you check back and see what we are adding to our playlists! We hope that the YouTube community enjoys our taste in what we define as quality content as hand-selected by our team of media mavens and entertainment experts.
